Rotorcraft billings increased by 1.4 percent, from $3.6 billion in 2016 to $3.7 billion in 2017. Piston rotorcraft experienced the largest increase of all segments at 264 unit deliver - ies compared to 224 in 2016, a 17.9 percent increase. Preliminar y turbine rotorcraft data also indicates an increase of 3.9 percent, to 662 aircraft delivered. Business jet airplane deliveries grew slight- ly, by 1.3 percent, rising from 667 to 676 units. Driving this growth are the several new air- craft models that entered into ser vice in 2017. Turboprop deliveries slowed to 563 airplanes, compared to 582 deliveries in 2016; a 3.3 per- cent decline, while piston airplane shipments strengthened by 6.5 percent, to 1,085 units. Through June 30, peers and super visors may nominate individuals online in one of eight categories: airpor t business, broker/ sales, business management, cabin atten- dants, maintenance, marketing, pilots, and schedulers/dispatchers. Nominees will be vetted for their profes- sional achievements, industr y involvement, character attributes, and passion for business aviation. All winners will be announced at the 2018 NBA A Business Aviation Convention & E xhibition (NBA A-BACE), Oc t. 16 -18 in Orlando, FL. HELINETWORK LAUNCHES ROTORPLACE Helinetwork International has created a new ser vice: RotorPlace. Purchasing is simplified while having access to all product information. SAFRAN Helicopters Engine, Saint Gobain and UTC AĆ©rospace have already joined the website and their product s are already available. Other contracts with major European manu- facturers are being negotiated. GULFSTREAM TO EXPAND IN APPLETON, WI Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. plans to con- struct a new ser vice center at Wisconsin's Appleton International Airpor t to suppor t its growing customer fleet. This additional Gulfstream Appleton facility is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2019 and create approximately 200 jobs. Gulfstream will develop an approximately $40 million, nearly 180,000-square-foot main- tenance, repair and overhaul facility nor th- east of the airpor t terminal. The building will include a hangar, offices, back shops, and suppor t space. The expansion will boost the number of employees at Gulfstream Appleton to more than 1,000. Groundbreaking is sched- uled for the second quar ter of 2018. ARSA ANNUAL REPAIR SYMPOSIUM Ever y March, the Aeronautical Repair Station Association brings the aviation world to the nation's capital for its Legislative Day & Annual Repair Symposium. This year, the associa- tion's team has added a day of "Executive to Executive" Briefings, through which senior aviation maintenance communit y lead- ers can engage directly with secretar y and administrator-level officials at federal agen- cies. For four days, members of the mainte- nance community engage elected officials, work directly with international regulators, and look through the political bluster toward commonsense policy.
